Contract:                 5th - 17th July & 2nd - 21st August

Salary:                     €28, 600.00 (per annum)

Hours of work:       40 per week

Established in November 2015 by Philippe Saint-André, Ian Lewis and Graham Ross, PSA Academies has quickly established itself as one of Europe’s foremost high-performance sport development businesses. 

Launching with the Tignes Rugby Academy in July 2016, PSA Academies has shaken up the youth sports camp market in rugby. This is a result of delivering a high performance programme that offers a unique, transformative experience for young players. Critically, compared to other operators, our programmes are truly player-centric, combining a lower coach-to-player ratio, detailed player assessment reporting and a commitment to getting to know and understanding our players in order to deliver the maximum positive impact on their playing and overall personal development.

What Will You Do?

Our Academy Coaches will work under the Academy Head Coach, Ireland to deliver specific elements within the high performance rugby development training programme, ensuring an exceptional rugby & personal development experience for our young players.

You Must

  • Have a full clean Drivers Licence.
  • Have a valid first aid certificate.
  • Hold industry-based qualifications to a minimum of World Rugby/IRFU level two standard or equivalent.
  • Have significant playing and coaching experience in top club, school or professional rugby environments.
  • Be passionate about working with & developing youth rugby players.
  • Demonstrate varied leadership and managerial skills.
  • Be able to communicate using varying methods.
  • Have proven planning & organisational skills.
  • Have the ability to apply and monitor delegation of tasks.
  • Be adaptable.
  • Be a positive role model.
  • Be driven by high performance standards.
  • Be flexible to meet the demands of the job.
  • Be able to understand, meet and exceed company and client expectations.
  • Gain satisfactory DBS and/or IRFU Garda Vetting clearance.

Key Responsibilities

Rugby Coaching 

  • Deliver daily programme elements to the high-performance guidelines & objectives outlined in the PSA Academy Programme Manual, whilst appreciating and adapting to the fact that all players are different but equal in terms of commitment to developing them to the best that they can be.
  • Provide notes and feedback on each rugby session to include content delivered and possible future improvements.
  • Attend and constructively feedback into twice daily rugby programme planning/review meetings plus the ongoing WhatsApp communications required to deliver a high-quality programme. 
  • Maintain your assigned rugby programme kit bag to ensure full return of equipment, training bibs, branded balls etc. at the end of each Academy.

Player Development

  • Feedback to the pastoral team regarding any specific C.A.R.D.S. points relating to particularly positive or negative performance, attitude and/or discipline of players
  • Support the Player Development Programme team in the delivery of testing and specific player feedback for the end of camp Player Development Reports 

Health, Safety and Security

  • In accordance with Company documentation, to oversee the Health, Safety and Security of anyone under your responsibility
  • To ensure the recording of injuries, accidents and other safety issues in accordance with PSA Academies processes.
  • To feed back to the Academy Manager any H&S issues, incidents or operational improvements
  • To quickly and calmly coordinate the treatment of any person requiring first aid help.
  • Be familiar with your responsibilities in line with the company Welfare Policy & Prevent Strategy and proactively enforce these principles while working for PSA Academies.
  • Promptly and confidentially communicate with the any safeguarding concerns to the Academy Manager and/or Operations Manager
  • Deliver all sessions in accordance with RFU Regulation 15
